BATTLES OF TELECOM

Driven by unrelenting technological and market forces, telecommunication today is one of the most dynamic economic sectors. The developments in Indian telecom sector since independence can be summarized as that of impressive achievements, coupled with some glaring shortcomings, and many upheavals. Today the telecom sector once again is at cross-roads, being simultaneously in stress and at the cusp of new opportunities for growth and progress. This book follows the tumultuous course of developments in Indian telecom sector from the eyes of a professional, who has spent forty years in the telecom sector.

Battles of Telecom is a mix of history, information, analysis, and opinion, all loosely stitched together in a narrative form. This history as we learn is mostly about battles – for power, control, territory, rights, and, mostly, profit. Big or small, such battles keep raging on in every sector. The outcome of such battles determines the present and future, winners and losers, success and failure, or growth and stagnation. This book traverses the entire spectrum of this theme and offers you an insight into the world of telecom from an insider’s perspective.
